Chapel Lofts is a high specification residential refurbishment of a former 19th century Methodist Chapel in the market town of Morley, Leeds. Sum was the Employers Agent and Cost Manager on the scheme.
The 18 residential units benefit from high specification finishes, kitchens and bathrooms, exposed original features – including high arched windows, exposed brickwork and wrought iron vents. The development has an impressive glazed extension, tempered by attractive timber louvres which allow filtered light to flood inside the existing five storey structure. Each apartment benefits from typical loft-apartment style with individual twists. Beautiful minimalist interiors, plain white walls and natural wood floors complete the contemporary look. A communal entrance, external planting, bin stores and basement parking finish the development.
The significant design co-ordination challenges were: existing structures and features, acoustic performance within existing buildings.
