New Food Factory for Mumtaz Food Products, Bradford

Work commenced in June 2012 on this multi-million-pound contract to build a food production facility in Bradford for Mumtaz.

The 53,800 sq ft (5,000 sq m) development at Greyhound Drive was built by Leeds-based contractor Tolent Construction and included a new headquarters, food production facility, central warehouse and factory shop.

Due for completion in October 2012, it replaced Mumtaz’s existing facility at Great Horton Road.

Tolent worked with Barnsley-based architects Nuttal Yarwood and Partners Ltd to deliver the design. The pre-contract Quantity Surveyor, Sum Ltd prepared tender documents and supported Mumtaz Food in the procurement and analysis of tenders from Bardsley Construction, HB Projects and Tolent Construction.

“Tolent Construction are experienced in developments of this type,” said Tolent operations director Doug Shield.

“A notable recent example was a £4.5m contract to provide a new airline food assembly facility at Heathrow Airport. Our Central East division is delighted to be working on this major new development facilitating the ongoing expansion of Mumtaz.”
